PORCELAIN CHAPEL

Directly adjacent to the Porcelain Experience World set in the historic Leuchtenburg castle, the task was to rejuvenate the 18th century chapel which had fallen into disuse. The solution was to create a meditative, oval space within the existing room with 6m tall fins. With technical porcelain facing the congregation and polished aluminum backs to reflect light and color from the exterior, the angled fins bring verticality and symmetry back to the room. They allow views in when entering, while providing a soft, filtered backdrop for the altar.
